Effects of functional training on pain and functional capacity in elderly women

Abstract Introduction: The growing rate of elderly people in the world can became a public health problem when they exhibit insufficient levels physical activity, which increase chronic pain and lead to functional disability. Objective: To analyze effects training on capacity women. Methods: A non-randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted with 32 women, divided into two groups: (FT: n = 17) control group (CG: 15). Functional analyzed using Physical Fitness Test for Elderly. Pain assessed by reports musculoskeletal discomfort symptoms their characteristics Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire visual analog scale (VAS). program applied 12 weeks at frequency three times week. Results: Significant after intervention FT were observed, reduction, increased flexibility resistance lower limbs, cardiorespiratory (p < 0.05). Conclusion: women effective improving variables limb flexibility, perception, strength capacity.
